History

About 60 years ago, Tenryu opened as a casual izakaya in front of the Washington Hotel in Aizuwakamatsu City, and has been loved by many customers ever since.
Today, as “Jizake-dokoro Tenryu,” we continue to serve Japanese cuisine not only to local residents but also to visitors traveling to Aizu.

Our drink selection is one of the largest in the city, offering not only local Aizu sake but also a wide range of sake from other prefectures, shochu, and wine.
Our food menu includes popular simmered dishes, skewers, and a wide variety of selections to welcome all guests.

We will continue to strive to be “a place where you can discover your favorite drink” and a restaurant loved by everyone.

Our CommitmentCommitment

Every dish at Tenryu is crafted with the dedication and skill of our seasoned chefs.

For our grilled skewers, we use two types of salt: the mellow Mongolian “Jamtshdaws Salt” and salt made from the deep seawater of Muroto, Kochi—each carefully selected to enhance the natural flavors of the ingredients.
Our sauce is not the typical sweet-and-salty style; it is richly seasoned with garlic to create an irresistible flavor that pairs perfectly with alcohol.
Each skewer is grilled carefully over binchotan charcoal, sealing in its savory aroma and deep umami.

Our signature simmered dish also features a bold garlic aroma and is one of our proud specialties.
From skewers to side dishes, we never compromise on ingredients or techniques, aiming to deliver flavors that make every guest say, “I want to eat this again.”
